Outreach Team
Providing support to children & families
The Outreach Team provides advice, guidance and practical support to mainstream schools across Thurrock, helping staff to meet the needs of learners with additional needs, particularly those with autism and communication difficulties.
Our experienced Outreach Practitioners work alongside school staff to observe pupils, identify areas of need and provide practical strategies to support learning, communication, engagement and positive behaviour. We work collaboratively with school staff to help develop their confidence and skills, with a focus on strategies that can be used within the child’s everyday school environment.
Support is tailored to the individual needs of the pupil and may include advice around communication, sensory needs, emotional regulation, engagement, reinforcement and behaviours that concern. We aim to work in partnership with schools to promote inclusion and help pupils to access and participate in their learning as successfully as possible.
Referrals
Schools can refer learners who they feel would benefit from Outreach support by completing our referral form. Each referral is considered by the Outreach Team to determine how we may best support the pupil and school.
